LMHR Phenotype Screener
Metabolic Relevance
LMHR is defined by three simultaneous findings: LDL ≥200 mg/dL, HDL ≥80 mg/dL, and TG ≤70 mg/dL. Unlike typical high-LDL patterns (which come with low HDL and high TG), LMHR shows the opposite — this reversed pattern suggests a fundamentally different metabolic context where LDL particles may serve an energy transport function.
Important context:
LMHR is rare in overweight individuals. The leaner and more active you are on low-carb, the more likely this pattern emerges. CAC score provides important additional cardiovascular context.
Did you know?
LMHR is fully reversible — adding 100-150g of carbs daily reverses the lipid profile within weeks, suggesting a metabolic (not genetic) cause. This reversibility is a key distinguishing feature.
The recent KETO-CTA study showed some LMHR individuals do develop atherosclerosis despite metabolic health markers. Individual assessment with CAC scoring is essential for personalized risk evaluation.
